Celebrate-We’re half-way through the Bible

Can you believe it?  We are 1/2 through the Bible-week 26,.

I wanted to share a few words of encouragement as you read through the book of Levitius. It can be quite a challenge.  In fact, often when people read through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, they throw in the towel when they reach Leviticus.

We’re not going to do this.  As you read through the offerings, remember that until Jesus died on the cross and was the sacrifice once-and-for-all (Hebrews 10:10) people lived under the law and had to observe these offernings.  Even Jesus’ parents (Luke 2:24.) made an offering for Him as a baby.  I am so glad that we no longer have to live under the law.  Jesus is the fulfillment of the law.

In the Old Testament the law was to give people God’s standards for them to live by.  Of course no one could do it perfectly.  Only Jesus could be the perfect fulfilllment of the law.

Also as we read Levitius, remember the key verse is “holy as I am holy” Leviicus 11:45.

Note the feasts in the next weeks as we continue this book.  Jesus observed these feasts and yet all the feast point to Him.  For example, Passover was a feast in which a lamb was sacrificed.  In the gospel of John we read that Jesus is the Lamb of God.  Also we can track Jesus’ life sequentially by noting the feast.

Read the book of Leviticus with a fresh appreciation for what Jesus did for us.
